Holy PvP Talents? « Thread Started on Aug 20, 2009, 6:25am »
(I start with "Holy PvP Talents" and want to end with "Batman".)
I have a 73 paladin I'd like to start PvPing with again. Being me, that means healing. I haven't BG healed in, er, since vanilla, so I'd love some help putting a spec together. Any advice? (I can't tell how many points to sink into talents that improve Holy Light vs. improving crit chance vs. improving survivability. Everything looks pretty useful, and I don't know when to drop points into the Prot tree... >_>)
Also, does anyone know whether leveling's easier in or out of BGs these days? That's a new change, and I'm all for picking up XP in BGs.

I can't tell you how the balance works between XP leveling vs. BG's
What I will say is this - you won't be using Holy Light much/at all in a BG situation, but Beacon of Light is a must-have, so you'll need to be at least 51 points into the Holy tree. Keep Beacon on yourself and things get a lot easier. You'll also want imp. concentration aura and to be using aura mastery frequently, and once you have imp RF, keep that up all the time as well.
For a spec - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#sxAdxh0sVzhxgdxG0hZV this is what I threw together. Though admittedly, I've had a lot of success in BG healing at 80 with a standard 51/5/15 spec as well as the 54/17/0 spec. The wowhead link is really a specialized PVP healing setup.
I'd probably put the last remaining point in Purifying Power, since one of the biggest frustrations I have in PVP healing is going OOM from cleansing. The other is spending an entire fight CC'd. If you think you'll be using it, you can shoot for Divine Sacrifice with that point instead - but make sure you bubble after you use it.
Priority wise, I'd shoot for 52 Holy right off, and then the 5 points in Divinity and 5 points in Benediction (ret) - and after that fill out the Prot tree.

Teu -
I just leveled a Disc Priest from 72 - 80 in mostly AV, and as such didn't spec for PvP (anymore than Disc already is).
AV seemed to have the best XP - netting 90-150k depending on towers standing / destroyed (and winning). Until I could get a decent chain of quests (AC chain at 78 for example), the XP was best in BGs.
I ran a few ABs, with winners netting ~25k XP + another 15k-ish for the daily BG quest.
As a lowbie I did get focused alot, but I'd just focus on trying to heal my targets and if I could, keep myself alive (hard to do at 72, with three 80s mashing on you - Pain Suppression or not).
I suppose it comes down to what you enjoy, if you like AV, then I'd focus on a more raid healer build - and if it's WSG / AB then maybe more PvP focused build.
