* Aspect of the Cheetah: Can now be learned at level 16. * Deterrence now has a new visual spell effect. * The time that traps will exist in the world after being put down has been reduced to 30 seconds, down from 1 minute. * Traps now have separate 30-second cooldown categories: Fire (Immolation Trap, Explosive Trap and Black Arrow), Frost (Freezing Trap, Frost Trap) and Nature (Snake Trap). A hunter can have one trap of each category placed at one time.
o Beast Mastery
+ Catlike Reflexes now also reduces the cooldown of your Kill Command ability by 10/20/30 seconds.
o Survival
+ Entrapment: This talent no longer works with Immolation Trap or Explosive Trap. + Lock and Load: Now has a 22-second cooldown. The Lock and Load effect cannot be obtained on targets immune to snare effects when Frost Trap is used.
o Pets
+ Roar of Sacrifice: Redesigned. This ability can now be used on any friendly target to make that target immune to critical strikes, but the hunter pet takes 20% of all damage taken by that friendly target. Cooldown increased to 2 minutes.

I read that last one as "hunters can now use their pets to help the rogue tank down the last 2% of a boss when the tank gets gibbed."

It would be interesting to play around with the numbers and figure out how much of a dps loss you'd see from using a Tenacity pet. Back when scorpids were still doing quality damage I had a macro set up for casting Roar of Sacrifice on my focus target (usually the tank).

By going with a Tenacity pet and talenting it for dps as well as roar of sacrifice you basically just lose spider's bite (9% crit) as well as rabid and call of the wild. As far as family skills goes, I'd wager bear's swipe would give you the most damage, especially on trash packs (wonder if swipe would hit all three parts of Kologarn?).
If I had to guess, I'd say you'd lose at most around 200 dps with a tenacity pet.
I'm interested in seeing how well a BM pet can tank in 3.2. With the hunter wearing some pvp gear, the pet could easily be made uncritable. The +50% to healing taken should make a pretty survivable tank provided it has enough health to take the big hits without being one-shotted. A bigger concern would be threat generation, but on fights where the tank gets to beat on the boss for a good while the raid is killing something else, the pet could do a good job. Definately a viable offtank I'd wager at least.
Be nice if aspect of the beast would transfer all of the hunter's threat to the pet, but I'd guess that would make lvling up too easy.

Unfortunately I haven't PvPed in ages, so I don't have any resilience gear to test that out. It would certainly be interesting to see someone test it out come 3.2 though.

I usually get all my pet tanking info from Big Red Rhino. There are a quite a few remarkable achievements listed in the forums there, but the the greatest pet tanking achievement is managing to convince your raid to let your pet MT!
